STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team swept Ripon on Thursday for the second-straight home shutout to open the season.
The Pointers swept all three doubles matches to earn the team point. UWSP's No. 1 duo of
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won, 7-5 and the No. 3 pair of
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) and
Abigail Ashley (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) won 6-4.
In singles play, Jantz took No. 1, 6-0, 6-2. Scharf won at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Quinlyn Mack (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. At No. 4 singles, Steier picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win.
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) got a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.
Morgan Milan (Greenfield, Wis./Whitnall) finished the sweep with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
The Pointers take on UW-River Falls on Friday (Sept. 13) at home beginning at 4:00 p.m.
