STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Freshman goalkeeper
Erika Panella (Waukesha, Wis./Kettle Moraine) recorded her first career shutout as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (0-2-1) played visiting St. Olaf (2-0-1) to a 0-0 tie in the home opener on Wednesday.
Panella made nine saves for the clean sheet, including a nice diving stop in the first half. Wednesday was her first career start as well.
The Pointers matched the Oles all game earning six corner kicks and forcing eight saves. UWSP's best chance to break the deadlock came in the 50th minute as a
Mara Gustafson (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) shot off a corner kick was cleared off the line by a defender.
Senior
Gabby Dunn (Dallas, Texas/Bishop Lynch) had a team-best three shots on goal.
The Pointers remain at home to face Dubuque on Saturday (Sept. 7). Kick off at Point Soccer Bowl is slated for 2:00 p.m.
