STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (10-5, 2-0) got a double-double from
Grace Michalske (Wausau, Wis./West) in a 3-0 win (25-15, 25-17, 25-18) over UW-Stout (7-5, 1-1) in league play on Wednesday.
Michalske led all players with 32 assists in the win. She added 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the year.
Ashley Kopp (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) was the only player in double figures with 11 kills.
Tessa Erlandson (Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon Wanamingo) had a team-high 14 digs.
Carly Thomka (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) had two kills and a block as UWSP took a 6-4 lead.
Katie Larson (Hammond, Wis./St. Croix Central) had a kill and consecutive aces for an 11-6 advantage. Kopp added five kills as the Pointers took the opening set.
Thomka, Larson and Kopp combined for six kills and three aces as the Pointers jumped ahead 14-5 in the second set.
Sydney Mosinski (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada) added two kills and Kopp posted four kills late as UWSP took a 2-0 lead.
Erlandson and Kopp each had an ace as UWSP opened the third set ahead, 8-2.
Samantha Kempinger (Oshkosh, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) added a kill late and Abby Nevin served an ace to end the sweep.
The Pointers travel to Dubuque for the UD River City Classic. UWSP faces host UD and Millikin on Friday (Sept. 27) starting at 5:00 p.m.
