STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (1-3-2) saw its unbeaten home streak snapped by a 1-0 loss to visiting St. Norbert (1-1-0) on Wednesday.
Neither team scored in the first half as UWSP goalkeeper
Erika Panella (Waukesha, Wis./Kettle Moraine) made all six saves sent her way.
The shutout ended in the 66th minute as the Green Knights turned a throw in into a goal from just outside the box.
The Pointers nearly knotted the game in the 72nd minute.
Christa Borchardt (New Berlin, Wis./West) had a shot ring off the cross bar, but her follow up shot was off target.
UWSP forced three more saves from SNC's second half keeper, Taylor Wilson. Down the stretch to no avail.
Panella had eight saves in the match. SNC tandem of Lilly Collins and Wilson combined for seven saves.
Borchardt led the Pointers with eight shot attempts. Two were on goal, tied for the team lead with
Cass Klitzke (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area).
The Pointers continue the homestand on Saturday (Sept. 14) with a 3:00 p.m. match against Concordia (Wis.).
