ST. PAUL, Minn. – Freshman
Christa Borchardt (New Berlin, Wis./West) scored her first collegiate goal, but the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (0-1-0) fell by a 3-1 final at St. Catherine University (1-0-0) in the season opener for both sides.
Borchardt gave the Pointers a 1-0 lead with her first career goal in the 10th minute of action. Fellow freshman
Liliana Martinez (Portland, Ore./Rex Putnam) got her first career point with the lone assist on the goal.
The 1-0 UWSP lead lasted until the 56th minute. SCU scored goals in the 56th, 65th and 82nd minutes to rally back for the win.

Jessica Nigbur (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) made eight saves. SCU goalkeeper Kate Praetz had three saves for the victory.
The Pointers remain in Minnesota to play Saint Benedict on Sunday (Sept. 1). Match time is set for a 1:00 p.m. start.
