LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's golf team took third at the one-day Viterbo Spring Invitational on Sunday in the spring season opener.

UWSP: 3rd of 5
 
Top UWSP Individual: Kate Downie (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville) finished fifth in the 41-player field. She shot an 84 to finish seven strokes off the lead.
Notables: Rae Barwick (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) was just three shots behind Downie with an 87, good for eighth. Jenny Marshall (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) tied for 14th with a 90.
 
Tournament Highlights
Top Team: UW-La Crosse won the event with a 335, seven strokes better than second-place UW-Stout.

Top Individual: Sydney Grim from UW-Stout shot a 77 to win the event by three strokes over Nora Cerroni of UWL.

Up next: The Pointers travel to the Whitewater Invitational on April 19. Tee time is at 1:00 p.m.
