Women’s Tennis Comes Up Short at Edgewood

MADISON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team dropped a close 6-3 decision at Edgewood on Saturday.
 
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) was victorious for the Pointers in both singles and doubles action. She won her No. 4 singles match, 6-0, 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, she partnered with Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) for an 8-5 win.
 
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Katie Meyer (Wausau, Wis./West) took her No. 6 singles match to a super-breaker. She won the opening set, 6-3, but came up short in both the second set, 7-5, and the super-breaker, 10-8.
 
Kunze and Meyer won five games at No. 3 doubles. Leithold won three games in each set at No. 3 singles.
 
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won seven games at No. 2 singles. Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) won three games at No. 1 singles. Jantz and Scharf fell at No. 1 doubles, 8-3.
 
UWSP returns to action on Saturday (April 13) at Carthage. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
