MEQUON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team pulled off a late rally for a 5-4 win at Concordia (Wis.) on Thursday in the season finale. The match was played in reverse with singles contested before doubles action.
UWSP's No. 2 doubles duo of
Dominik Hendrickson (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) and
Conner Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) broke a 4-4 tie with a win via tiebreak, 8-7 (4).
Luca Hettstedt (Marbella, Spain/German School Marbella) and
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) won at No.3 doubles, 8-5, to knot the match at 4-4.
In singles play, Kryscio won a super-breaker at No. 3. He took the opening set, 6-1, but dropped set two, 6-4. In the super-breaker, he won by a 10-2 score.
Schreier won his No. 4 singles match by a 6-2, 6-2 final. Hendrickson won at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-4.
Hettstedt battled at No. 5 singles coming up short in a tiebreak, 6-2, 7-6 (9).
