EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team (0-9, 0-4) faced off with conference foe UW-Eau Claire (9-3, 0-3) on Saturday, dropping the contest to the Blugolds, 18-5.

The Blugolds opened the bout with a fast-paced offense, quickly jumping out to a 6-0 lead. UWSP scoring and points leader, Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest), broke the ice at the 3:31 minute mark with an unassisted goal to bring the UWEC lead to five, 6-1. The goal was her 30th of the season as the Pointers first 30-goal scorer in program history.

Van Dyke opened the scoring for both units in the second with a hard-fought goal over two defenders. The Blugolds managed to respond quickly, as they took a 6-0 scoring run into the half, up 13-2.

Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) scored the first goal of the second half off a man-up free-position goal to cut the UWEC lead to 10. The Blugolds responded with two goals of their own, extending their lead to 15-3. Prior to the close of the third quarter, Paige Allen (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) scored her fifth goal of the season on a free-position opportunity.

Allen scored her second goal of the game at the five minute mark on an unassisted attack. The Pointers hit a wall after scoring their fifth and final goal of the matchup, falling to UWEC 18-5.
