MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team fell at Cornell on Saturday by a 6-3 final.
The Pointers took the lead with an 8-5 win by
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) at No. 1 doubles.
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) and
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) won at No. 2 doubles in a tiebreak, 8-7 (4). UWSP nearly swept doubles play, but No. 3 doubles duo
Jenna Carmean (Muskegon, Wis./Mona Shores) and
Emma Rockweiler (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area) fell in a tiebreak, 8-7 (8).
Kunze was the love victor in singles play for UWSP, winning at No. 4, 6-1, 6-4.
Scharf won six games at No. 2 singles. Leithold won five games at No. 3 singles.
UWSP will face Edgewood on Saturday (April 6) beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Madison.
