NORTH PARK, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis suffered a pair of losses in Illinois on Saturday. The Pointers fell to North Park, 6-3, before getting shut out by Lake Forest, 9-0.
Freshman
Jenna Carmean (Muskegon, Wis./Mona Shores) earned her first singles career win with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles versus NPU.
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) won a super-breaker at No. 3 singles against NPU. She won the opening set, 6-4, before dropping the second, 6-1, to set up the super-breaker. There, she prevailed with a 10-3 win.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) took the No. 1 doubles match versus NPU by an 8-5 score. Jantz fell in her No. 1 singles match in a super-breaker splitting 6-3 sets. She fell in the super-breaker, 10-6.
Carmean and partner
Katie Meyer (Wausau, Wis./West) won six games in their No. 3 doubles match versus LFC.
The Pointers will be home for the first time in spring with a 1:30 p.m. match on March 14 against Lawrence at SentryWorld.
