ASHLAND, Wis. – The No. 8 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (17-5-1, 11-2-0) rallied for a 4-3 win over Northland (1-22-0, 0-13-0) to complete the season sweep.
The Pointers took the lead on
Noah Finstrom's (New Baltimore, Mich.) goal at 13:38 of the first period.
The Lumberjacks tied the game in the final minute of the first. NC took the lead at 10:15 of the second period. The Lumberjacks made it three-straight goals at the 16:11 mark of the second as UWSP trailed, 3-1.
David Hill (Glen Mills, Pa.) scored at 17:59 of the second off assists from
Evan Junker (Elk River, Minn.) and
Isaac Moberg (St. Paul, Minn.). Less than a minute later,
Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Sir William Churchill) tied the game at 3-3.
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) picked up the assist in the tying goal.
Nicholas Aromatario (Woodbridge, Ont.) netted the eventual game-winner at 7:29 of the third period. His goal was unassisted.
Ryan Maguire (Ridgefield, Conn.) notched the win with 23 saves in goal for the Pointers. Northland goaltender Viktor Wennberg made 54 saves as the Pointers fired a season-high 58 shots on net.
The Pointers return home for a weekend series against UW-Superior. Puck drop at K.B. Willett Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. on both Friday (Feb. 9) and Saturday (Feb. 10).
