WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams traveled to the Whitewater for the WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's) where the men are slotted in at sixth and the women are in fifth. The men scored 13 points and the women tallied 21.5 points.
 
Results
 
For the men, the relay unit of Logan Lutz (Greendale, Wis./Greendale), Aiden Leist (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville), Adam Eiden (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli Catholic) and Derek Penzkover (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) earned a first-place finish in the distance medley relay with a time of 10:06.16. The group finished four seconds ahead of second-place Whitewater.
 
Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus) tallied a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a heave of 16.19 meters (53' 1.50").
 
Gavin Ridge (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) currently sits in 11th-place in the heptathlon with a score of 2585. His best finish through four events was a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.18.
 
Rachel Krouse (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) highlighted the UWSP women with a second-place finish in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:18.32.
 
Ashley Bartelt (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) took a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.61.
 
Madeline Zirbel (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) finished tied for fifth place with a jump of 1.58 meters (5' 2.25") in the high jump.
 
The relay team of Natalie Johnson (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie), Jaimie Deschand (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac), Ashley Spatz (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls) and Maddie Oxborough (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) logged a fifth-place finish in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:52.58.
 
The Pointers will resume action at the WIAC Championships on Saturday (Feb. 24). First events are scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.
