STERLING, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team fell at Augustana on Saturday by a 6-3 final.
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) went 2-0 on the day. She won her No. 4 singles match by a 7-5, 6-4 score. At No. 3 doubles, she paired with
Abigail Ashley (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) for an 8-6 win.
Katie Meyer (Wausau, Wis./West) notched her first win in a Pointers uniform at No. 6 singles. She dropped the opening set, 6-0. She rallied to take the second set by a 7-6 (4) final. In the super-breaker, she prevailed with a 10-6 win.
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) and
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) played a close match at No. 2 doubles coming up short, 8-6. Leithold also played No. 1 singles and won five games.
The Pointers travel to UW-Superior next Saturday (Feb. 17) for a 12:00 p.m. first serve.
