DULUTH, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team notched its first win of the spring with a 6-3 victory at UW-Superior on Saturday.
The No. 1 double team of
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won by an 8-5 score.
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) and
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) won, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles. The Pointers swept doubles play as
Emma Rockweiler (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area) and
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) earned an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
Jantz rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. At No. 4 singles, Steier won by a 7-5, 6-2 score. Kunze won her No. 5 singles match by a 7-5, 6-1 final.
Rockweiler took her No. 6 singles match to a super-breaker. She took the opening set, 6-1. Then in set two, she came up short, 7-5. In the super-breaker, she lost, 10-3.
The Pointers head to Minnesota to take on Bethel on Friday (Feb. 23). First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
