STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Sophomore
Anne Beck (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) made all 23 saves and notched her first collegiate shutout as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (6-3-1) ended its homestand with a 3-0 win over MSOE (2-8-1) on Saturday.
Natalie Ahern (Byron, Minn./Byron) got the scoring started at 18:14 of the first period on a redirect of a
Soile Doyle (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) shot.
In the second period,
Amanda Pouchnik (Viola, Idaho/Moscow) pushed the lead to 2-0 at the 15:15 mark.
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) had the lone assist on the goal.
Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) scored at 4:20 of the third period to complete the scoring. Doyle and Leising each recorded their second assist of the game on the play.
Beck's day got progressively harder as she needed just three saves in the first period. She made five more in the second and had 15 saves in the third period to seal the shutout.
MSOE goaltender Jenna Kent made 26 saves.
The Pointers hit the road to take on Marian on Tuesday (Dec. 10). Puck drop in Fond du Lac is set for 2:00 p.m.
