Pointers Skate to Tie with Stout, Win Shootout in League Play

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 13 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (4-3-1, 1-1-1) got a shootout win after a 2-2 tie with UW-Stout (4-3-1, 1-1-1) on Friday night.
 
The Pointers got on the board first as Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont.) scored on the power play at 7:14 of the first period. Chris Engelbert (Whitby, Ont.) had the assist on the goal.
 
The Blue Devils tied the game at the 10:08 mark of the second period with a power-play goal of their own. Stout took the lead at 14:27 of the second and held a 2-1 advantage into the third period.
 
At 10:09 of the third, Peyton Hart (Delafield, Wis.) tied the game with UWSP's second power-play tally of the night. Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) and Michael Eftimovski (Toronto, Ont.) both had assists on the play.
 
The teams did not score the remainder of regulation or in overtime. In the shootout, Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont.) scored on the first attempt. In the third round of the shootout, Engelbert scored for the 2-0 shootout victory.
 
UWSP goaltender Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) had 32 saves and stopped both attempts in the shootout. Stout goaltender Tyler Masternak had 39 saves and only stopped one shootout attempt.

The Pointers travel to Ashland on Saturday (Dec. 7) to face Northland. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m.
