Pointers Score Eight in the Third to Back Proctor’s Shutout Win

ASHLAND, Wis. – The No. 13 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (5-3-1, 2-1-1) scored eight goals in the third period, three in the final minute of play, in a 10-0 win at Northland (0-9-0, 0-4-0).
 
The Pointers tied a program record with six power-play goals in the game, all coming in the third period.
 
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) recorded his first shutout of the season making saves on all 24 shots he faced.
 
Neither team scored in the first period and the game remained scoreless until Owen Dean (Calgary, Alberta) scored at the 12:10 mark of the second period. Evan Junker (Elk River, Minn.) and Joshua German (Waterford, Mich.) had assists.
 
Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont.) scored an unassisted goal 61 seconds later to give UWSP a 2-0 lead heading to the third.
 
Quinton Hill (Coquitlam, B.C.) scored the first goal of the third period at 3:28 off an assist from Matthew Falls (Toronto,Ont.).
 
Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa.) made it 4-0 at the midpoint of the third. Dean and Joseph Manning (Stillwater, Minn.) got assists.
 
The power-play barrage began with Chris Engelbert (Whitby, Ont.) at 12:21. Anderson and German had helpers on the play.
 
Sciarrino netted his second of the game on the man-advantage with Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont.) and Anderson getting assists at 14:51.
 
At 16:39, Dean was scored the third-straight PPG with Peyton Hart (Delafield, Wis.) getting an assist.
 
In the final minute of play, Falls scored his first career goal with Anderson and Poulias again getting assists. Alec Hamady (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) also netted his first career goal with Gino Colangelo (Newmarket, Ont.) and Hill providing assists. Colangelo added a goal in the final seconds with Hill and Aiden Moser (Bismark, N.D.) getting helpers. All three goals in the final minute were power-play tallies.
 
The Pointers return home to begin a home-and-home against UW-Eau Claire. Puck drop on Friday (De. 13) is slated for 7:00 p.m. at K.B. Willett Arena.
