EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The No. 15 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (6-4-1, 3-2-1) dropped a 5-2 game at UW-Eau Claire (5-6-1, 4-2-0) to end play in 2024.
 
The Blugolds got on the board at 2:06 of the first period with a shorthanded goal to snap UWSP's two-game shutout streak.
 
At 5:56 of the first period, Peyton Hart (Delafield, Wis.) tallied a power-play goal to tie the game at 1-1. Sean Bunting (Phoenix, Ariz.) had an assist on the goal.
 
After UWEC regained the lead at 11:50 of the second, Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa.) again tied the game. Michael Eftimovski (Toronto, Ont.) and Owen Dean (Calgary, Alberta) had assists as the game headed to the third, tied 2-2.
 
The Blugolds took the lead for good at the 17:16 mark of the third period. UWEC tacked on two empty-net goals to complete the scoring.
 
The Pointers return home to face St. Norbert on January 4. Puck drop at K.B. Willett Arena is set for 7:00 p.m.
