Pointers Open Game with 13-0 Run, Rout Olivet at Home

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 14 UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (8-0) scored the first 13 points of the game and rode that early double-digit lead to a 73-36 win over The University of Olivet (1-6) on Saturday night.

Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) led a trio of Pointers in double figures with 16 points. Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) added 14 points and the duo combined for seven made three-pointers. Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) was also in double digits with 13 points.

Butler and Baumgartner combined to hit three threes as UWSP opened a 13-0 lead six minutes into the game. The pair each hit again from behind the arc and the Pointers were up 23-9 midway through the first half.

Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) and Carter Combs (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) each drilled a three and the Pointers' advantage was 38-16 at the half.

Butler hit another three early in the second half and an and-one by Baumgartner pushed the lead to 50-18. Blake Kortz (Freedom, Wis./Freedom), Jack Hutchinson (Topeka, Kan./Washburn) and Austin Schaumburg (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap) all drained three-pointers as the Pointers cruised to the lopsided win.

The Pointers travel to North Carolina for the Jay Bilas Classic next week. UWSP's first game is on Thursday (Dec. 19) at 7:00 p.m. ET against Christopher Newport.
