MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (7-4-1) was on the wrong end of a 6-0 final at No. 6 Augsburg (7-1-1) on Friday night in Minnesota.
UWSP goaltenders brought a three-game shutout streak into the game, but the host Auggies wanted no part of that story with an opening goal 3:16 into the first period.
Anne Beck (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) held the deficit at just one making 13 saves in the first period. Beck made 11 more saves in the second period before AU made it 2-0 at the 14:17 mark.
The Auggies tacked on two more goals to extend the UWSP deficit to 4-0 heading to the third period.
Augsburg scored twice more in the third period to wrap up the scoring. Beck totaled 37 saves for the Pointers.
UWSP was held to just nine shots on goal as AU goaltender Marissa Paaske made all nine saves for the shutout.
The Pointers are back on the road on Saturday (Dec. 14) with a 4:00 p.m. game at St. Norbert.
