ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (1-2-0) got its first win of the season, 3-0, at St. Catherine (1-1-0) on Friday night.
UWSP goaltender
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) needed just 16 saves for the shutout win, her third career shutout.
Senior
Soile Doyle (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) got the Pointers on the board at 9:52 of the first period. It was her first goal of the season.
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) assisted on the eventual game-winner.
Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) doubled the UWSP lead at 16:39 of the first period. Freshman
Avery Engbrecht (Winona, Minn./Winona) notched her first career point with an assist.
Fellow freshman
Molly Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) scored her first collegiate goal just 50 seconds into the third period to complete the scoring. Her goal was unassisted.
The Pointers and Wildcats close out the weekend series on Saturday (Nov. 9). Puck drop in St. Paul is slated for 1:00 p.m.
