ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (2-2-0) finished a weekend sweep at St. Catherine (1-2-0) with a 4-2 win on Saturday.
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) scored at 5:51 of the first period for a 1-0 lead.
Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) had an assist and UWSP led after one.
SCU tied the game just 38 seconds into the second period.
Leising scored again at 3:04 of the second period. Her unassisted goal gave UWSP a 2-1 lead.
Alyssa Yokom (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) scored on the power play at 8:40 of the second.
Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) and
Molly Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) got assists on the play.
The Wildcats cut the UWSP lead to one at the 15:41 mark of the third.
Molly Millar (Anchorage, Alaska/East) scored her first of the season with 1:13 remaining to push the lead back to two.
Natalie Ahern (Byron, Minn./Byron) got an assist on the play.
Anne Beck (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) had 21 saves in the win. SCU goaltender Addie Oettinger made 28 saves.
The Pointers travel to Mequon on Tuesday (Nov. 12) for a 7:00 p.m. matchup against Concordia (Wis.).
