Women’s Hockey Shut Out in Series Finale by St. Olaf

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (0-2-0) was shut out for the second-straight game to start the season, 3-0, by visiting St. Olaf (2-0-0) on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Oles scored at the 12:32 mark of the first period, but UWSP goaltender Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) held the deficit at a single goal until the third.
 
St. Olaf got another goal at 12:13 of the third period and capped the scoring with a goal at 16:08.
 
The Pointers came close to evening the game up 75 seconds in the second period. Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) rang one off the far post, to no avail.
 
Griege had 26 saves in the game for the Pointers. St. Olaf goaltender Baylyn Shankman stopped all 23 UWSP shots.
 
Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) led the Pointers with five shots on goal. Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) added four. Leising and Natalie Ahern (Byron, Minn./Byron) had three shots each.
 
The Pointers will travel the Minnesota on Friday (Nov. 8) for a weekend series at St. Katherine. Puck drop on Friday is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
