DUBUQUE, Iowa – Senior
Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont.) scored his second goal in as many nights as the No. 6 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (1-1-0) earned a 2-1 overtime win at Dubuque (0-2-0) on the final day of the Key City Collegiate Classic.
The host Spartans broke through first with a goal at the 5:50 mark of the second period on the power play.
At 11:03 of the second period,
Joshua German (Waterford, Mich.) scored his first goal at UWSP to tie the game.
Blake Norris (Warroad, Minn.) and
Matthew Falls (Toronto,Ont.) got assists on the goal.
Neither team scored in the third and the Pointers killed off a penalty early in overtime. Then with 1:21 left in the extra session, Poulias ripped the game-winner in the net.
Aiden Moser (Bismark, N.D.) got an assist on the game-winner.
UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) had 26 saves in the win. UD goaltender Ryan Piros stopped 40 UWSP shots.
The Pointers will host Bethel on Friday (Nov. 8) in the home opener. Puck drop at K.B. Willett Arena is set for 7:00 p.m.
