SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (4-2-1, 1-0-1) grabbed three points in the league standing with a 2-1 win at UW-Superior (4-4-1, 1-2-0) on Saturday afternoon.
Molly Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) gave the Pointers a 1-0 lead at 13:18 of the first period. Fellow freshman
Avery Engbrecht (Winona, Minn./Winona) had the assist on the goal.
Senior
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) pushed the lead to 2-0 just 46 seconds into the second period.
Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) had an assist on the play.
The Yellowjackets got on the board at 5:17 of the third period with a power-play tally.
UWSP goaltender
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was up to the task making 16 of her 32 saves in the third period to secure the win. UWS goaltender Anna Maulson had 18 saves.
The Pointers begin a three-day, three-game homestand on Dec. 5 with a 7:00 p.m. game against UW-Eau Claire.
