MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (4-0) remained undefeated with a tough 65-62 win at North Central (3-2) on Friday night.
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) led all scorers with 17 points.
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and racked up 16 points.
Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) was also in double figures with 11 points.
Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) had a team-best eight rebounds.
Darrius Bolden (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet) had five early points and a Baumgartner three gave UWSP a 10-9 edge. Butler nailed a three with 11:55 remaining in the first half for a 15-13 lead and UWSP did not trail the rest of the game.
Baumgartner hit another triple and Butler nailed a three as UWSP kept the lead. Krohn and
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) combined for 11-straight UWSP points as the lead reached double digits with two minutes remaining in the half. The Pointers got a late bucket by
Carter Combs (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) and led 38-32 at the half.
Butler had six points to begin the second half as UWSP upped the lead to 12 at 50-38. Baumgartner had a late three as UWSP held on for the three-point win on the road.
The Pointers return home to face Northland on Tuesday (Nov. 26). Tip-off at Quandt Fieldhouse is set for 7:00 p.m.
