RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (3-2-1, 0-0-1) held a lead for more than 40 minutes in a 3-3 tie at No. 1 UW-River Falls (3-0-2, 0-0-1) in Friday night's conference opener.
Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) got the Pointers on the board 3:23 into the game.
Amanda Pouchnik (Viola, Idaho/Moscow) and
Molly Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) had assists as UWSP took a 1-0 lead.
Pohlkamp doubled the UWSP lead at 11:56 on assists from
Avery Engbrecht (Winona, Minn./Winona) and Andrle.
The Falcons got one back at 18:36 of the first and UWSP led, 2-1, after one.
UWRF tied the game at 2-2 at the 5:28 mark of the second period.
Soile Doyle (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) gave the Pointers a 3-2 lead at 11:17 of the second period.
Natalie Ahern (Byron, Minn./Byron) had an assist and UWSP led heading to the third.
At 6:29 of the third, UWRF tied the game at 3-3. The game remained tied through regulation and overtime. The Falcons took the extra point in the standings with a 2-0 win in the shootout.

Anne Beck (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) had 49 saves. UWRF goaltenders Anna Rader and Jordan O'Kane combined for 16 saves.
The Pointers return to action on Nov. 23 for a 2:00 p.m. game at UW-Superior.
