DE PERE, Wis. – The No. 9 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (3-2-0) fell behind in the first period and were not able to recover in a 6-2 loss at No. 5 St. Norbert (5-0-0) on Tuesday.
The host Green Knights scored in the opening minute of play and racked up four goals in the first period as UWSP faced a big deficit after one.
At 9:02 of the second period,
Blake Norris (Warroad, Minn.) got the Pointers on the board with his second of the season.
Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa.) and
Michael Eftimovski (Toronto, Ont.) got assists on the play.
Chris Engelbert (Whitby, Ont.) scored his third goal in the last two games at the 14:35 mark of the second period as UWSP cut the deficit in half.
Joseph Manning (Stillwater, Minn.) picked up an assist on the goal.
SNC scored in the final minute of the second period and added a power-play goal in the third period to complete the scoring.
UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) had 29 saves. SNC goaltender Hunter Garvey made 20 saves in the win.
The Pointers return to action on Nov. 22 with a 7:00 p.m. game at UW-River Falls to open conference play.
