ST. PAUL, Minn. –
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) won a second-set tiebreak and the super-breaker in the decisive match as the UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team earned a 4-3 win at Hamline on Saturday.
With the match tied at 3-3, Steier rallied from a first set loss, 6-4, to force a tiebreak in the second set at No. 3 singles. She won set two, 7-6 (6), to force a decisive super-breaker. There, Steier pulled off a 10-2 win to earn the team win.
The host Pipers swept the doubles matches to earn the team point.
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) got the Pointers a win at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won her No. 4 singles match, 6-4, 6-3.
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) was victorious at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-2, and the match came down to Steier.
The Pointers will now prepare for the WIAC Championships in Madison on Oct. 26 and 27.
