STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (13-6) hit a season-high .343 in a three-set dismantling of visiting Augustana (7-13) on the opening day of the Papa John's Invite.
Senior
Ashley Kopp (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) led all players with 17 kills and just missed a double-double with nine digs. She also served up three of UWSP's nine aces.
Grace Michalske (Wausau, Wis./West) had a game-high 36 assists and added eight digs.
Tessa Erlandson (Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon Wanamingo) led all players with 12 digs.
Erlandson served up a pair of aces as UWSP opened the match with a 7-0 lead. Kopp powered down three kills in a 6-0 run as the Pointers went up 13-1.
Lauren Shaw (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) added two kills and UWSP was ahead 19-3.
Addison Miller (Davenport, Iowa/North) added a kill and a block as UWSP rolled to a 25-8 win in set one.
Abby Nevins (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) served an ace with Kopp and
Sydney Mosinski (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada) posting two kills each as UWSP opened the second set with an 8-1 lead. Kopp added two more kills and an ace for an 11-5 advantage. Mosinski and Kopp had three kills apiece down the stretch in a 25-14 set two win.
Kopp had four kills and two aces as UWSP again jumped in front early, 8-2.
Ella Trieloff (Park Ridge, Ill./St. Viator) served consecutive aces late as UWSP closed out the sweep with a 25-15 win in the third set.
The Pointers face Wheaton on Saturday (Oct. 12) to conclude play in the Papa John's Invite at 1:00 p.m.
