RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (10-9, 4-4) won at UW-River Falls (11-8, 5-3) on Saturday by a 79-77 final.
 
Junior Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) racked up a season- and game-high 29 points. He went 10-of-15 from the field and added seven free throws. Darrius Bolden (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet) and Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) were also in double figures with 14 and 11, respectively.
 
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly), Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) and Abdul-Wahid each buried a three as UWSP opened the game with a 9-2 lead. Bolden drained a pair of threes and Ryn Genrich hit from behind the arc as UWSP was ahead, 21-12.
 
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) nailed a three, but a 10-0 run by UWRF put UWSP behind 28-27. Abdul-Wahid added six points and the Pointers held a 40-36 advantage at the break.
 
Bolden and Abdul-Wahid combined for UWSP's first seven points of the second half. Genrich drained another three-pointer and UWSP regained a 50-49 lead. Bolden completed an and-one, but UWSP trailed 59-57 midway through the second half.
 
Abdul-Wahid added 10 points down the stretch and UWPS gained a 72-69 lead with 2:24 to go. Genrich pushed the lead to four with a layup. Bolden and Krohn made five free throws int eh final minute to seal the win.
 
The Pointers return home for back-to-back games next week beginning on Wednesday (Jan. 310 against UW-Stout. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m.
