Pointers Sweep UWRF with Four Unanswered Goals in Series Finale

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The No. 7 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (14-3-1, 8-1-0) completed the season sweep of UW-River Falls (11-8-0, 3-6-0) with a 4-1 win in the series finale on Saturday.
 
The Falcons took the lead at 4:26 of the first with a power-play goal. Mick Heneghan (Niles, Ill.) pulled the Pointers even at 13:19 of the first with Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa.) and Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Sir William Churchill) each getting their first points of the night with assists.
 
Nicholas Aromatario (Woodbridge, Ont.) gave the Pointers the lead at 17:07 of the first. It would be the eventual game-winner, the first GWG of Aromatario's career. Anderson and Sean Bunting (Phoenix, Ariz.) added assists.
 
Noah Finstrom (New Baltimore, Mich.) extended the lead at the 3:41 mark of the second period. Conor Witherspoon (Metamora, Mich.) and Brett Humberstone (Kingston, Ont.) notched helpers on the play.
 
Sciarrino pushed the lead to 4-1 at 10:49 of the second. Anderson recorded his third assist of the night. Nick Gonrowski (New Hope, Minn.) also had an assist.
 
Neither team scored in the third period.
 
UWSP goaltender Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) made nine saves in each period to earn the win. Ryan Maguire (Ridgefield, Conn.) had four stops in the final 9:27 of action. UWRF goaltender Dean Buchholz and Dysen Skinner combined for 30 saves.
 
The Pointers will travel to De Pere on Tuesday (Jan. 23) to face St. Norbert in the final non-conference game of the season. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m.
