RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (4-10-0, 1-3-0) held No. 1 UW-River Falls (16-0-0, 4-0-0) scoreless for nearly 33 minutes in an eventual 4-0 loss.
Freshman goaltender
Anne Beck (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) made the start and posted 56 saves, the second-most in a game in school history and just one shy of the program record.
The teams skated to a scoreless first period with Beck making 21 saves for UWSP. She had recorded 36 saves before the Falcons got one past her for the eventual game-winner at 12:59 of the second period.
UWRF added a second goal at 19:04 of the second, a power-play tally. The Falcons scored twice in the third period at 3:25 and again at 10:47 to complete the scoring.
Annika Horman (Appleton, Wis./North),
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and
Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) had two shot each as the Pointers fired 12 on UWRF goaltender Jordan O'Connor.
The Pointers and Falcons wrap up the season series on Saturday (Jan. 13) at 2:05 p.m. in River Falls.
