STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (1-3-0) earned its first win of the season, a 1-0 shutout of visiting Hamline (1-3-0).
Goalkeeper
Savannah Reed (Waukegan, Ill./St. Joseph Catholic Academy) made seven saves to post her first career shutout and first win in goal.
The teams played to a scoreless first half with Reed making four saves in the first 45.
In the 77th minute, Reed made a close-range save at the near post on a recycled corner kick by the Pipers to keep the match scoreless.
That save became vital as UWSP earned a corner kick in the 80th minute.
Gabby Dunn (Dallas, Texas/Bishop Lynch) served a great ball to the middle of the box and
Cass Klitzke (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area) headed the ball into the net for a 1-0 lead.
Reed made one more big save in the 89th minute to keep the Pipers off the board.
The Pointers will conclude a busy week with a non-conference match at Saint Mary's on Sunday (Sept. 10). Kick off in Winona, Minn., is set for 3:30 p.m.
