Kopp, Mosinski Power UWSP Offense to Sweep of NCC

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 20 UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (10-2) earned its second-straight home win via sweep with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-14) win over North Central (9-3) at the Pointers Invitational on Friday.
 
Sydney Mosinski (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada) registered a season-high 12 kills, her third-straight match in double figures for the Pointers. She hit .556.
 
Kopp was just behind at a .548 hitting percentage and posted her ninth double-double of the year with a match-best 19 kills. She also led UWSP with 12 digs.
 
Grace Michalske (Wausau, Wis./West) racked up 39 assists, nearly double NCC's team total for the night. Tessa Erlandson (Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon Wanamingo) and Lauren Shaw (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) were in double digits with 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
 
Shaw, Erlandson and Michalske each had an ace early with Kopp and Mosinski combining for four kills as UWSP led 7-4. The Cardinals stayed close until Kopp and Mosinski combined for seven kills in an 8-1 run to put UWSP up 21-13. Kopp and Olivia Paukner (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) teamed up for a set-ending block as UWSP closed on a 4-0 burst.
 
Kopp and Paukner had two kills each as UWSP took a 7-3 lead in the second. Mosinski and Kopp had two kills each in an 8-3 burst as the lead grew to 17-10. Zoe Kramer (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) added two kills down the stretch as UWSP ended the set on an 8-4 spurt.
 
Mosinski and Kopp had four kills apiece in the third set. Shaw and Kramer added three kills each as UWSP posted five runs of 3-0 or better to roll to the sweep.
 
The Pointers will face Aurora at 1:30 and Simpson at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 23) to wrap up the home stand and the Pointers Invitational.
