KANSASVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's golf team is tied for 14th place as a team after the first day of action at the Midwest Region Classic. They accumulated 336 points and sit within five strokes of cracking the top 10 in a 33-team field.

Top UWSP Individual: Kate Downie (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville) headed the Pointers golfers, wrapping up day one tied for 37th as she shot an 82 (+10).
Notables: Andrea Tietz (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) shot an 83 (+11) to wrap up day one as she rests tied for 50th place right behind teammate,
Kate Downie (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville).
Jenny Marshall (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) finished with an 85 (+13) on the day as she is currently tied for 68th place. Rounding out the Pointers,
Rae Barwick (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) and
Bree Downie (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville), both finished tied for 81st place with a score of 86 (+14).
Tournament Highlights
Top Team: Adrian is the top team after day one at the Midwest Region Classic with a team score of 317. They currently hold a one-stroke lead over both Wisconsin-Whitewater and St. Mary's.
Top Individual: There currently sits a tie at first place after day one between Kallie Lux of UW-Whitewater and Mackenzie Biggs of Central. They both shot a 74 (+2) on the day and currently hold a two-stroke advantage over individual participant from Aurora, Michelle Beggs.
