ALTOONA, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's golf team wrapped up day one at the Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational residing in 14th place. The Pointers recorded a day one score of 327 and currently sit 43 shots over par.

Top UWSP Individual: Josh Brogren (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn Area) led the Pointers after shooting an 80 on the day, slotting himself tied for 40th after day one. He finds himself in the race for a top 30 slot, currently being tied with 12 fellow golfers.
Notables: Connor Schaefer (Greenville, Wis./Hortonville) wrapped up day one just one stroke behind Brogren as he shot an 81 to finish tied for 53rd (+10). Ethan Roehm (Ironwood, Mich./Luther L. Wright) followed up Schaefer finishing day one tied for 58th as he sits 11 shots over par after shooting an 82 on the day. Ethan Mehlberg (Junction City, Wis./Wisconsin Valley Lutheran) slotted in tied for 71st (+13) and Joe Warpechowski (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) is tied for 77th having shot an 85 (+14).

Tournament Highlights
Top Team: Bethel holds a seven shot lead over UW-Eau Claire to lead after the first round. The Royals posted a 291 in the opening round.
Top Individual: Carson Brock of host UWEC shot a 68 to pace the field by one stroke over a pair of golfers in second.
