JANESVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's golf team recorded a score of 299 and are slotted at seventh place after the first round at the Culver's Edgewood Fall Classic in their first action of the season.

Tournament: Culver's Edgewood Fall Classic
 Location: Glen Erin Golf Club, Janesville, Wis.
 UWSP: 7^th out of 19
 Top UWSP Individual: Ethan Roehm (Ironwood, Mich./Luther L. Wright) leads the team tied for 14^th with seven fellow golfers out of 100 total competitors. Roehm shot a 73 (+2) in the first round to head the Pointers approach.
 Notables: Josh Brogren (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn Area) and Ethan Mehlberg (Junction City, Wis./Wisconsin Valley Lutheran) wrapped up the day tied shooting a 74 (+3). Connor Schaefer (Greenville, Wis./Hortonville) finished the day tied for 48^th and shot 78 (+7). Joe Warpechowski (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) rounds out the Pointers golfers having closed the day tied for 59^th and shot 80 (+9).
 
Tournament Highlights
Top Team: With four golfers within the top 25, St. Olaf is leading the classic with a sizable lead with a score of 290.
Top Individual: There is a three-way tie between Austin Gaby (UW-Stout), Deegan Riley (Madison College) and Carter Ruegsseger (Dubuque) as they all finished the day shooting 69 (-2).
 
Up next: Saturday's (Sept. 2) second round of the Edgewood Classic begins at 8:30 am.
