STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team got off toa 2-0 start after a 7-2 win over St. Norbert and an 8-1 victory over Ripon at University Courts on Friday.
Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) picked up wins in all three matches he played on Friday. He won at No. 1 singles by 6-2, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-2 finals. He also earned a doubles win against SNC, 8-7 (5).
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) also got three wins on the day. He notched two singles wins, 6-2, 6-1 and 6-2, 7-6 (3). He also won a doubles match, 8-4, against SNC with partner
Connor Paullin (East Troy, Wis./East Troy).
Brady Wierzbicki grabbed three wins on the day also. He got wins in singles action by 6-2, 6-3 and 6-3, 7-5 scores. He also earned an 8-5 win in doubles play with partner Luca Hettstedt.
Dan Harris (Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona) and Frederick Diehl won at No. 2 doubles against Ripon. Harris also won in singles, 6-0, 6-3. Diehl also got a singles win, 6-2, 6-1.
Samuel Zapata (Envigado, Col./Colegio Colombo Britanico) and Josh Zaborski picked up an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles against Ripon. Alex Suscha took a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles versus Ripon.
UWSP head to Minnesota on Sept. 9 for matches at Macalester (11:00 a.m.) and at Hamline (3:00 p.m.).
