WHITEWATER, Wis. – UWSP's Mackenzie Johnson (Cumberland, Wis./Cumberland) won the title in the 400-meter dash as the Pointers concluded the WIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships (presented by Culver's). The women placed sixth as a team while the men were seventh.
 
Results
 
Johnson was victorious in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.22. She edged the second-place finisher by just 0.30 seconds.
 
Johnson also ran the final leg of the 4x400-meter relay with teammates Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot), Shelby Klobucar (La Crosse, Wis./Logan) and Ashley Bartelt (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) that finished second.
 
Wellhausen finished third in the 800-meter run and Bartelt was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
For the men, Casey Ploederl (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville) took second in the high jump. Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) placed third in the 800-meter run.
 
Quinn Greer (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles. He teamed with Gilles, Mason Mead (Wausau, Wis./West) and Brad Brewer (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) to take sixth in the 4x400-meter relay.
 
UWSP will send athletes to Joliet, Ill., and La Crosse next weekend for a pair of meets.
