MADISON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team suffered consecutive shutout losses at a stacked Midwest Invite. The Pointers fell 9-0 to undefeated University of Chicago and 9-0 to North Central to close out day one action.
The Pointers were more successful in doubles action on Friday. UWSP's No. 2 duo of
Quinlyn Mack (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) and
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) won four games in each match.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) won three games against UC and one versus NCC at No. 1 doubles. At No. 3 doubles,
Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) and
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won five games against UC and one against NCC.
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) won six games over her two No. 5 singles matches. She picked up four game wins against UC.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) had four game wins, two in each match at No. 3 singles.
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) also picked up wins in four games, three of which came against NCC, at No. 6 singles. Jantz won three games at No. 2 singles. Covek earned two game wins against NCC at No. 4 singles.
The Pointers wrap up play at the Midwest Invite at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday (April 8) against Gustavus Adolphus.
