Carter, Gilles Win Events, Pointers with Bevy of Top-Five Finishes

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams tallied a top-five finish in most events at Friday's Rex Foster Invite. The men's team finished second and the women third among the eight-team field.
 
Results
 
Caleb Carter (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) won the long jump with a leap of 6.44 meters (21' 1.50").
 
Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) took first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.27.
 
Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus) posted runner-up finishes in the shot put and hammer throw. Cade Ravenscroft (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) placed second in the javelin throw. Ian Klein (New Berlin, Wis./West) was second in the high jump.
 
For the women, Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) claimed second int eh 1500-meter run. Mackenzie Johnson (Cumberland, Wis./Cumberland) edged out teammate Ashley Bartelt (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) for second in the 400-meter dash.
 
In the 800-meter run, Kylee Sauers (Rockford, Minn./Rockford) placed second. Jordan Shamion (Iron River, Mich./West Iron County) was second in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
The Pointers return to Platteville on Friday (April 14) for the Platteville Invite. Action in the two-day meet begins at 5:00 p.m.
