STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 10 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (14-5-4, 10-2-1) reclaimed first place in the WIAC standings with a dominating 6-0 victory over Northland (1-20-2, 1-11-1) on Saturday.
Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa./) uncorked the scoring with a goal at 8:54 of the first period.
Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Sir William Churchill) had an assist, the first of three points on the night.
Quinton Hill (Coquitlam, B.C./) netted his first career goal at 11:39 of the first to push the lead to 2-0.
Harrison Stewart (Rockford, Ill./) had a helper on the play.
Stewart extended the lead to 3-0 with his first goal of the season. Anderson and
Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont./) had assists on the goal.
Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C./) made it 4-0 at 11:06 of the second as he scored on Senior Night.
Mick Heneghan (Niles, Ill./) and
Sam Ayd (Grant, Minn./) picked up assists on the play.
Brady Smith (Bloomington, Ill./) scored on the power play at 14:33 of the second with
Matthew Falls (Toronto,Ont./) getting an assist.
In the third period, Anderson notched his third point with a goal. Poulias and
Nick Gonrowski (New Hope, Minn./) added assists to complete the scoring.
Senior
Ryan Wagner (Indianapolis, Ind./) made 18 saves to record the shutout win. NC goaltenders Chris Curr and Kenny Vought combined for 35 saves.
The Pointers travel to UW-Superior next weekend to wrap up the regular season. Puck drop on Friday (Feb. 10) and Saturday (Feb. 11) is slated for 7:00 p.m.
