ASHLAND, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (9-11-1, 3-6-0) got goals from seven different scorers in a 7-0 road win at Northland (2-18-1, 0-8-0).
Laina Berthiaume (South Haven, Minn./Hutchinson) notched her first career four-point game, one shy of tying the single game school mark. She scored a goal and added three assists.
Sara Aadalen (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) put the Pointers in front at 6:03 of the first period. Her eventual game-winner was assisted on by
Shelby Tryba (Plover, Wis.).
At 10:10 of the first, Berthiaume got her first point on a power-play goal.
Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) had a helper.
UWSP struck again on the power play with
Maike Zipp (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) scoring at 8:32 of the second. Berthiaume added her first assist on the play.
Later in the second period, Tryba scored her first goal in a Pointer sweater.
McKenna Piekarski (Anchorage, Alaska/West) had the assist on the goal at 17:43.
Just 28 seconds into the third period,
Kayla Stumo (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) pushed the UWSP lead to 5-0 with an unassisted goal. Less than a minute later,
Ashtyn Wiltscheck (Sleepy Eye, Minn./New Ulm) scored with Berthiaume adding an assist.
Berthiaume recorded her third assist and fourth point on a power-play goal by
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) at 3:18 of the third to complete the scoring.
UWSP goaltender
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 23 saves in the shutout win. Northland goaltender Teagen Johnson made 58 saves as UWSP fired 65 shots on goal, the second-most in program history.
UWSP will conclude its season series at Northland on Saturday (Feb. 4) in the final road game of the regular season. Puck drop in Ashland is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
