Poulias, Sciarrino with Two-Point Nights in Home Tie for Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 10 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (13-5-4, 9-2-1) let a lead slip away in the final minute in a 2-2 tie with visiting Northland (1-19-2, 1-10-1).
 
Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Sir William Churchill) gave the Pointers a lead in the first period with a tally at 11:56. His goal was assisted on by Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa./) and Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont./).
 
The lead held until the 1:18 mark of the third period as Northland put home the tying goal on a breakaway.
 
UWSP regained the lead at 6:50 of the third as Poulias notched the go-ahead goal. Sciarrino and Mick Heneghan (Niles, Ill./) picked up assists on the power-play goal.
 
In the final minute of play, the Lumberjacks were able to get their goaltender off for the extra attacker. It paid off with 16.7 second remaining as the tying goal found the back of the net.
 
Neither team was able to find the game-winner in overtime although UWSP out-shot NC 6-0.
 
The game went to a shootout to determine which team would get the extra point in the league standings. Anderson put the Pointers ahead on the first UWSP attempt. NC tied it on the third attempt and earned the extra point by converting the fourth.
 
UWSP goaltenders Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) and Ryan Wagner (Indianapolis, Ind./) combined for 14 saves. Northland goaltender Chris Curr stopped 33 shots.
 
The Pointers and Lumberjacks close out the season series on Saturday (Feb. 4) at K.B. Willett Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. and it will be Senior Day for the Pointers, the final regular season home game.
