STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Junior
Annika Horman (Appleton, Wis./North) notched her second-straight two-goal game as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (12-12-1) won its regular season finale, 2-1, over visiting Concordia (Wis.) (12-10-1) on Tuesday.
After scoring a pair of goals of Saturday, Horman quickly put UWSP in front just 4:51 into the first period. She buried a nice centering feed from
Soile Doyle (Hayward, Wis./Hayward).
Later in the first, Horman caused a turnover in front of the CUW net and fired a shorthanded goal into the net. Her second of the game, and fourth in two games, turned into the game-winner with just 52.8 seconds left in the period.
UWSP goaltender
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) handled the rest of the win. She made 30 saves and allowed just a single goal on a breakaway at 17:09 of the period.
CUW goaltender Annalina Van Hercke made 34 saves.
The Pointers are the three-seed in the WIAC Tournament and will travel to the two-seed for the semifinals beginning on Feb. 24.
