STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (4-8-0) suffered its second-straight shutout, falling to Augsburg (6-4-0) by a 5-0 final on Friday.
UWSP starting goaltender
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) made 10 saves in the first period keeping the Pointers close as the Auggies got just one in the period.
Augsburg scored again in the second period at 13:57 to make it 2-0. Griege had 11 more saves keeping UWSP within striking distance.
The Auggies scored on the power play at 1:45 of the third period. The Pointers' deficit hit 4-0 at the 6:36 mark of the third.
With 12:16 left in regulation,
Jordyn Godfrey (Monona, Wis./Monona Grove) entered the game making her collegiate debut in net. She made eight saves.
The Pointers' offense mustered just 11 shots on net.
Sara Aadalen (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata),
Hailey Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake Area),
Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) and
Lauren Wincentsen (Wausau, Wis./West) had two each to lead the way.
UWSP will return to action on Jan. 6 at Hamline. Puck drop in Minnesota is set for 2:00 p.m.
