ASHLAND, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point freshman goaltender
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) made all 30 saves as the Pointers (4-6-0, 1-2-0) earned a 2-0 win at Northland (3-8-1, 0-3-1) on Saturday.
Griege made 11 saves as the teams skated to a scoreless first period. UWSP fired 16 shots on goal in the first.
Sara Aadalen (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) broke the scoreless tie at 14:48 of the second period, the eventual game-winner.
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and
Annika Horman (Appleton, Wis./North) had assists on the play. Griege made 15 more saves in the second to keep NC off the board.
At the 18:03 mark of the third period, Leising scored her team-leading sixth of the season. Aadalen picked up her second point of the game with an assist.
Hailey Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake Area) notched her first collegiate point with an assist as well.
Griege needed just four saves in the third period to complete the shutout. NC goaltender Karlee Lehner made 33 saves.
The Pointers return home for the final two games of 2023, beginning on Thursday (Dec. 7) at 7:00 p.m. against St. Norbert.
