SUPERIOR, Wis. – The No. 8 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (7-3-0, 4-1-0) suffered its first league loss with a 3-1 defeat at UW-Superior (6-6-0, 4-2-0) on Saturday night.
The Yellowjackets opened the scoring at the 5:44 mark of the first period. UWSP's deficit was 2-0 as the Yellowjackets scored again at 17:55 of the first.
UWS added a power-play goal at 11:15 of the second period. Despite out-shooting UWS, 18-15 through two periods, the Pointers trailed 3-0.
Conor Witherspoon (Metamora, Mich.) got UWSP on the board at 10:49 of the third period. His fourth of the season was assisted on by
Sam Ayd (Grant, Minn.).

Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) made 21 saves. UWS goaltender Jan Skorpik had 26 saves.
The Pointers travel to UW-Eau Claire on Friday (Dec. 8) at 7:00 p.m., the kick off a weekend home-and-home with the Blugolds to close out 2023.
